Hi, I’m Lily; an Account Manager intern. I’m so excited to be finally joining the adult world of work after spending so long in education and part time work! I’m very nearly about to graduate from the University of Kent with a BA Hons in Sociology with Quantitative Research. A degree title I still struggle to spell!
At university I was/am a bit of an activist, especially around women’s rights and disability inclusion. I’ve even been interviewed by HuffPost, BBC and local newspapers for research and documentaries! I’m a bit of a ‘yes person’, so have had some really great opportunities, from producing films, to organising marches, to influencing university policy around accessibility, to being a trustee of a large charity. I’ve also worked in many kitchens in catering, which has been… an experience! I can’t wait to continue to receive more opportunities to improve myself and the world around me!
At the moment, I’m just really ready to break out into the adult world after being in continuous education for most of my life. I am especially looking forward to renting a one bed flat and not having to clean up after anyone else!
Lily's Likes & Dislikes
I love cooking and eating; as a reward for myself I go to the supermarket and buy new spices. Last week I got pilau rice spice mix, I’m not sure my housemates appreciate it, but I love it. I also love animals, even though I’m really allergic so I’ll often be seen sneezing! Also I thoroughly enjoy a debate or discussion around anything sociological, so much so I wrote my dissertation on Brexit.
I hate pickles so much that I’m allergic to them! I also can’t eat fruit- no, not even strawberries. I don’t know why but it’s just a thing. I will eat all the vegetables, as long as it’s seasoned! As I’m deaf and short sighted, my sense of smell is really good, so I am definitely not a fan of bad smells; especially tuna or fish!
