Monday

Upon arrival at the office, Orla and I were kindly greeted by Amy. The office surpassed all my expectations - my assumption that it would be a boring space was quickly disproven by the bright colours, beanbags, pool table, and well-decorated meeting rooms.

After our tour, we met with Terry, who introduced us to Paid Media. We were then given a series of tasks, including designing a set of creatives for an ad, which we completed.

After lunch, Ella introduced us to SEO and explained what the team does for different clients. I found this a bit confusing at first, but Ella was very helpful in breaking it down for us. She then set us a task to optimise a website for a current client, which I really enjoyed.

Tuesday

On Tuesday morning, we had an introduction to the Marketing team for Reflect Digital itself with Erin. She briefed us on upcoming projects and how the team is promoting them. We helped pack Brunch & Learn boxes and sorted some bags from the recent Aspiration Digital event.

Later, we brainstormed ideas to promote the upcoming podcast on a new TikTok account, which was really entertaining. After a lunch with Harry (who attacked us - in a very nice way), we sat in on a couple of meetings with Hannah to get an understanding of what the Growth team does.

This experience helped expand my understanding of the company as a whole by giving us the chance to speak with different members of the team.

Wednesday

On Wednesday morning, we arrived at the office and were warmly greeted by the team. We first sat in on a meeting with Ellen and the Growth team. She then set us a task to research competitors on social media and use that insight to discuss what a client should be doing.

After lunch, we had a Google Meet with Sandra to gain a deeper understanding of the Paid team’s role. She then set us a task to come up with multiple headlines and descriptions for different ads, which I really enjoyed.

Thursday

As Reflect Digital offers a four-day working week, this was mine and Orla’s last day. In the morning, we started with Ariane from the Behavioural team. She explained a few different types of nudges and then set us a task based on them. We also sat in on a meeting with her and other members of the Behavioural team to gain a better understanding of their work. I found learning about the role of behavioural science at Reflect Digital really interesting.

In the afternoon, we met with Ed, who gave us an introduction to how data is used within Reflect. He then set us a task to analyse some datasets, which was a great way to apply what we’d learned.

Key Takeaways

My week at Reflect Digital has been both enjoyable and insightful. It was a unique experience, and I definitely learned a lot more about digital careers, especially given how little I knew before. Each task covered something different, giving me a well-rounded understanding of the various parts of the company.

All the staff, including Harry, were incredibly kind and welcoming, always making me feel like part of the team. My time at Reflect Digital has been a genuinely positive experience, one I’d gladly recommend to anyone else.
