How Behaviour-Led Global SEO Delivered an Estimated 7,146% ROI for Nord Anglia Education

CHALLENGE

Nord Anglia Education (NAE) runs 90 schools across 37 countries. Over time, its digital presence had become a web of separate city-level school sites, many competing with each other for the same searches, known as keyword cannibalisation. This weakened NAE's search authority, held down its rankings and sent prospective parents on confusing, disconnected journeys.

Together, we set four targets: 500+ top 10 rankings across the UK and US, a 10% increase in organic sessions and users, a 10% increase in qualified lead conversions, and a 10% improvement in on-page engagement.

SOLUTION

We rebuilt NAE's search strategy around how parents choose a school, replacing competing pages with a clear hierarchy of country and city hubs:

  • Two audiences, two approaches: NAE attracts both relocating expatriate families and affluent local families, with the proportion of local families growing. For expat families, we addressed loss aversion, the tendency to weigh what might be lost more heavily than what might be gained, with reassuring content on stability and curriculum continuity. For local families, we highlighted reputation and university pathways, using social proof to show that families like them choose NAE.

  • An AI workspace for local content: We built a NotebookLM workspace loaded with NAE's brand guidelines, regional audience profiles, behavioural personas and local market data. This let our team tailor content to each campus's mix of families across dozens of markets without losing quality or speed.

  • Fixing the structure: Using AccuRanker, we researched how parents actually search in each region rather than relying on direct translations. We then removed duplicate metadata targeting, reorganised URL folders and added internal links that pass authority back to the main location hubs.

  • Simpler pages, faster rollout: We redesigned text-heavy conversion pages using choice architecture, presenting options so decisions feel easier and guiding parents from browsing to enquiring. A central rollout cut deployment from weeks to days, and we trained 740 NAE staff in AI and SEO so their teams could build on the work.

RESULTS

By shaping every page around what each audience needed, NAE moved ahead of its targets:

  • Rankings and visibility: 677 UK and 561 US keywords reached the top 10, against a 500+ target. Keywords in positions 1–3 grew by 583%, overall visibility by 126.3%, and AI share of voice, how often NAE appears in AI-generated answers, by 1,125%.

  • Traffic and engagement: Organic sessions grew by 28.8% against a 10% target, active users by 13.6%, and average engagement time by 15% across the site, against a 10% target.

  • Enquiries: Form conversions increased by 15.87%, exceeding the original 10% target and demonstrating that increased organic visibility was translating into meaningful action from prospective families.

The result was a global SEO strategy that didn't just increase NAE's visibility in traditional search. It improved how prospective families discover and engage with its schools, while building a stronger foundation for visibility across the emerging AI search landscape.
