I arrived at 9am on my first day and was immediately welcomed by the team with open arms, big smiles, and genuine kindness. From the moment I stepped in, I could tell this wasn’t your traditional office filled with rows of desks and computer screens. The space felt creative, modern, and genuinely employee-friendly.
One of the first things I noticed was the leisure area, there were bean bags, a pool table, and a table tennis table. It creates a relaxed atmosphere and shows that they value balance, not just productivity. There’s even a dog called Harry, Chief Happiness Officer, in the office, which definitely lifts the mood and makes the environment feel even more comfortable.
A small but memorable detail was in the kitchen. Each mug had a co-worker’s face printed on one side and their preferred drink on the other, along with their chosen colours. On the wall, there was also a “Meet the Team” display featuring everyone, including Harry, the office dog. These touches made it clear that the company sees itself as more than just colleagues and more like a family.
At the start of the week, I was given a mini care package which included a reflective digital pen, a jotter, a notepad, an activity planner, a flask, and a tote bag. It was a simple but meaningful gesture that made me feel valued and welcomed from the beginning.
Throughout the week, I shadowed different team members across departments. I worked closely with Prince in Paid Media, where I completed a few tasks and made notes to enhance my understanding of concepts such as nudges and campaign strategy. I also spent time with Jess in PR, where I learned how public relations campaigns are planned and managed. After being introduced to her role, I began working on tasks she assigned to me and gained hands-on experience in the process.
I also worked on SEO tasks, which helped me understand how optimisation improves visibility and performance. I even had the opportunity to get involved in behind-the-scenes work for their podcast, “Behind the Future,” giving me insight into the creative preparation that happens before content is published.
Overall, the week was an eye-opening and valuable experience. I not only developed practical marketing skills across SEO, PR, and Paid Media, but I saw first hand how collaboration, creativity, and company culture contribute to a positive and productive working environment.
