My name is Zach Wilde, I got the opportunity to complete my work experience week at Reflect Digital, One of the best digital marketing companies, and gratefully took the opportunity to experience what working in this kind of environment is like. I am going to talk about what my time with Reflect Digital was like and how I found it throughout the week.
The First Days
As I arrived on the cold wet Monday morning, half confident, half nervous, I walked up to the building thinking of all the possible things that could happen during my time at Reflect Digital, telling myself to be confident and that everything would be fine. But it was not me that told myself that in the end! but rather the people at Reflect Digital, who made me feel welcomed from the first minutes of my time there, whether it was through explaining a task in a relatable manner, or by having a friendly chat with me, it made me at ease for the week. I was especially welcomed by Harry, the office dog, who always interrupted my conversations and caught me off guard at random times with his barking!
I met different people throughout the days, and got to learn about different aspects of Reflect Digital, completing tasks to do with SEO, Behavioural science, and much more! It was exciting to get a better idea of what career paths I could look into going into in the future, and seeing what kind of day to day work I could be getting up to in the foreseeable future. One task I particularly enjoyed was PR, and I also enjoyed doing work with Data. I was also given a tour around the office, which was very warm and welcoming, making me feel at home during my time at Reflect.
Team Day
I was invited to join Reflect Digital on Team Day, giving me an experience first hand on how these days worked, and getting me involved in something different. I got to meet lots of new people across the company, and got to do challenging but exciting work to try and win the challenge we were set. We ultimately ended up not winning the challenge, but the experience i gained from the day, and the work i had completed with the team i was in that day was very enjoyable. The whole team at Reflect made me feel like I had been at the company for months, when in reality I had only been there for a few days. During lunch I was talking to people I had never spoken to like I had known them for years, making me feel truly welcomed at Reflect.
The Final Day
On my last day at Reflect Digital, walking into the office, I walked in feeling like I had been working there for months, being greeted by people I had never worked with like I had worked with them everyday for months!
I spent a bit of time in the morning reflecting on my time at Reflect and what I had learned whilst being at the company. Reflect Digital showed me what a warm welcoming work environment looks like, and how working in an office should be, hard-working but friendly.
Being able to witness hard-working focused individuals from different fields of the company do their work whilst also explaining it to me, and setting me my own tasks, has given me a great insight into potential career paths in the future, and a greater understanding of the type of work each career offers.
Overall, I really enjoyed my time at Reflect Digital. The welcoming environment and the knowledge I gained from Reflect has made me confident for the future and given me an idea of what to expect. I am grateful for my time at Reflect Digital and will remember the experience
