The award was founded in the UK in 1956 by Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh and has since expanded to be internationally recognised. Operating in more than 140 countries and territories, the award aims to equip young people for life by allowing them to develop skills, get physically active, give service and experience adventure. The organisation approached us to design a logo to commemorate the 60 years the award has been running. Later we also received a brief to design a logo for the Ghana 2018 Forum.
60th Anniversary Logo Design
Following a conference call with the Senior Communications Manager. The team had a clear brief to follow. Brand guidelines were provided to ensure any artwork was in keeping with the company’s overall look and feel.
During the design process, it was quickly decided that we should make use of the striking colour pallet and bold font. A PDF with a number of different designs were sent over to the client, this included mock-ups of the logo positioned next to The Duke of Edinburgh’s main and cropped logos.
The final logo included all five of the awards colours and complimented the brand nicely.
Ghana 2018 Forum Logo Design
We were not given as much creative freedom with the brief for this logo and had to stick to the layout from previous years. We were however, allowed to be as creative as we wanted regarding the icon within the logo. Because the forum was being held in Ghana the team felt it was important to include the colours from the flag. The final logo integrated the shape of the country itself, as well as the colours.
